May bank holiday collection changes

As we are approaching the first May bank holiday, your bin and recycling collection dates will be changing.

Your usual collection day will move to the following day, until normal service resumes on Monday 11 May.

Check your collections calendar or go to our website to find out your revised dates.

Improvements to the Bulky Waste Service

We have recently reviewed our Bulky Waste collection service to make sure it is cost effective, efficient, and supports Braintree District Council’s waste and recycling ambitions.

As a result, we have introduced a number of improvements to make the service easier to use and more affordable for residents across the district.

The Bulky Waste service is for items that cannot be collected in your
regular kerbside bins and offers an alternative to taking items to a recycling centre. Using the council’s service provides a cost-effective disposal of bulkier items, can help prevent fly tipping whilst reducing the risk of rogue traders collecting your waste and thereby ensures your waste is disposed of responsibly in line with your ‘Duty of Care’.

What has changed?
• a new, easy to use online booking form
• budget friendly pricing based on the number of items collected
• an updated list of items we can/cannot collect
• new terms and conditions
The improved online booking form makes it quicker and more accessible for residents to book and pay for a collection, with more collection slots available each week. https://www.braintree.gov.uk/bins-waste-recycling/bulky-waste-collection

Residents who are unable to book online can contact our Customer Service Centre on 01376 552525, where our team will be happy to help complete a booking over the phone.
