Welcome to NHS Essex in Brief

From Tom Abell
Chief Executive Officer
NHS Essex

Welcome

On 1 April 2026, NHS Essex was created to bring together NHS planning and decision-making across the county, helping us work more consistently with partners and make health services better for almost two million people who live here.

While NHS Essex is a new organisation, the work to improve services is already underway. Across Essex, we are working hard to help plan for neighbourhood health services, improve early diagnosis of cancer, reduce waiting times and support people to stay healthy for longer. We are keen to keep people involved and informed about our work through our Virtual Views platform, where they can have their say on work to help shape services.

This bulletin will keep you updated on work taking place across Essex, the progress we are making with partners and how residents, communities and stakeholders can help shape future improvements to health and care services.

On 3 June we launched a public survey to understand people’s experiences of health and care. The results will help develop our plan further. The survey closes at 5PM on Tuesday 30 June 2026
